Cabo 2025'
Absolutely unreal! I don't think I've ever taken nor will take like this again, unless we go to Cancun next. It wasn't anything ever experienced before, not even in my 20's. It was nonstop the entire time from the moment we checked in, until the moment we got home.
Day 1.
The airport was surprisingly easy to manage, even though TSA. I think the only casualty of war, was me packing my Cerave acne wash and spray deodorant into my carry on and watching it be thrown out due to it being over 8 oz. There goes $30 easily, and it had to be reordered. We had breakfast at the airport, and a few mimosas which left us already wanting to pass out on the plane, but that didn't happen. Instead, we had more drinks, and I watched Harry Potter.
Cabo heat hits different. It was not sticky, but it was hot. R got himself a $15 beer while we waited for our transportation. It took 40 minutes to drive to the resort and we were greeted with warm smiles, several 'buenos dias,' and fresh non-alcoholic lemonade. Because we arrived so early, we checked our bags at the front, changed into our swimsuits and hit the pool. When I say we 'hit the pool,' we hit it hard. Swim up bars everywhere, and the people were all so friendly. We met several couples from California and we did several Tequila shots with them until our room was ready. 4 hours of drinking!
After we unpacked, we took a drunken walk through the resort and because of the size I realized we'd be walking off all the calories we'd drink. There were buffets in every villa, bars everywhere and the gift shops were near the center. We had tacos that night and ended it with some Karaoke. I mean, we didn't sing but watching was fun. We were all showered and passed out by 9:30 pm, Cabo time.
Day 2.
We took on the Cabo beach. That didn't last long because of the waves and let me tell you they are deadly. Regardless, we experienced it and had our time on the beach. The pools and restaurants are where we spent most of our time that day. R and our buddy C decided to book some unplanned excursions for us that involved a sunset sail and some scuba diving the following days. Needless to say, I was nervous. I'm a land adventure person and the water isn't where I'm most comfortable.
We took a walk to the kids' area which was full of water slides. The guys had their fun as we ladies watched. I was more concerned for my contacts and didn't want to chance damaging them. Now if you're thinking, 'why didn't you just take them out and wear your glasses?' That's not a thing for me. The sun was excruciating and again, I'm not a water sport kind of person to a point. I don't like my face in the water, I guess.
There was a daytime 'Jungle Party' at the 21 and up club so we attended. It was loud, and so much fun! More like a water retro, rave in my opinion.
We did have our semi-romantic dinner at the steakhouse. I was absolutely willing to try anything and let me tell you the food is very different in Mexico. Flavors, textures, you name it. I wasn't disappointed. R on the other hand isn't very open minded with that, and that's okay.
Day 3.
We spent most of it again by the pool until our sunset cruise. The drive into town didn't take long, and the scenery was absolutely beautiful. You could point us out for tourists in seconds with my bright green dress and R's straw cowboy hat. So, this 'cruise' was far from romantic. It was a blast! More of a party barge! It had a DJ constantly playing different remixes, and the host was channeling his inner energizer bunny. The first part was a small trek to 'Lovers Arch.' The view, my goodness the view! Never. Have. I. Ever. seen such beauty from the seas. That was our romantic moment. I took it all in and after there was beer, margaritas and tacos. 2 hours of non-stop deliciousness, and sound with a view on the seas.
This was the night that caught up to us, as we literally walked into our room after, laid down on the bed by 6:30 and passed out. I woke up still in my dress at 10:30. We went to the buffet for a late dinner and returned for showers and more sleep after.
Day 4.
Scuba day. Training was fun! We walked over to the sister resort called the Palace and did our 1-hour training. I thought I had it down as the instructor told me I did well. Okay, I was feeling the good vibes. 4 hours later we were on the seas and I'm putting my wet suit on. All was well until I felt it secured around my neck. I started to panic as I'm not one for tight anything around my neck. Then came the weights, the tank and the goggles. It was falling backwards that almost did me in but I tried pushing through. The instructor was patient with me thank goodness, but as much as I wanted this to go well it didn't.
We made it to shallow waters, and he helped me descend. I couldn't take the quick trip down and I was hyperventilating due to the weight and inability to control my breathing, and my ears didn't want to pop. As soon as that happened, I knew I was out. I mean, I made it about 10 feet and saw a puffer fish, so that's a win in my book. I went back to the boat and R did his 45 ft below and swam with the fishes.
The trip back was quick and easy, and of course more drinks at the pool. We changed into our suits and attended the 21 and up, white party. Every party has a theme and this involved white clothes, mirror balls, and lights! It was a full-on rave, with party balloons, and throw back remixes. This was my drunken night!
We chose the sushi bar that evening and I was asked to wear a 'blouse,' by the restaurant. I'm sure you're questioning this right now. For the majority of the trip, we were in our suits daily as that's what people walk around in, and I was still in mine. Instead, I decided to spend a few (cough) a lot of money in the gift store on a cute little dress I was eyeballing since day one. I returned still drunk, better dressed and ready to try new foods!
Day 5.
Check out day. It was some time at the pool and mostly packing. The time change always had us up early and that was beneficial for us, because we could eat early and spend time outside. The one thing I didn't know till I saw our room, was R upgraded us to a suite to surprise me. He did great! The view, the sun, the location, it was everything about the trip and nothing bad to say.
Getting home wasn't bad, but we were all exhausted by the time we finally sat down in the comfort of our own homes. I think the only thing I didn't like was how hard the mattresses were. By hard I mean, lay down on tile floors, and it was like that.
Cabo was an adventure and one I'll never forget. I'm grateful to have these memories and thank goodness I took my phone everywhere. If you're ever wanting an all-inclusive vacation, I highly suggest Cabo in Mexico at the RIU Santa Fe. It was under $800 per person and this included our flights.
I missed the kids though, and we are currently waiting for them to come home from their trip from their father's house.
