Holiday Bugs
It's 2 days after Halloween, and both kids have been attacked by the flu bug. It started at 3 am Sunday morning when E came into my room almost in tears complaining of a headache and her legs hurting. I got up and immediately checked her temperature and was blinded by the 102! I got her settled in on the floor with blankets, squish mallows, a thermos full of cold water and of course the trash can just in case her stomach decided to roll over. I let her veg on the iPad for an hour while I stayed up and made sure she was comfortable.
I woke up at 9 am (damn this time change), while R deep cleaned the guest bathroom and did a few things around the house. Little J immediately came to me complaining of a headache, and stomachache. Another high fever stared at me through the thermometer. Lather, rinse, repeat in his room and both are completely quarantined.
So far, they have been comfortable and sweating it out while resting in their own areas of the house. I'm so glad while they were gone with their father this weekend, I did a deep clean on each room including their linens and laundry. They were able to relax and get as comfortable as possible, before they started feeling like poop. My poor critters.
But wait, there's more!
Not only do the kids have the flu bug, but my period started, and R had to leave town for work this week. I made a call I was dreading to my boss and luckily, I have landed a job that is has been really good to me. He agreed I could work from home if I went to get my laptop from the office. Done, and done. I ran up there Sunday afternoon and while I was gone, R cleaned up the office desk for me. My phone was linked to the office and now I'm able to take care of the kids, while I work. I couldn't be more grateful for things right now.
Here's the worst part. As of 3:15 ish, I started to feel really nasty. Exhausted, headache, sore throat and body aches. I'm not one to admit if I might be getting sick, so currently I'm blaming it on my period until I see a fever temperature on the thermometer. I'm avoiding that thing right now, because all its shown me is bad news.
Until then, I'm making a week of meals for the freezer, something to help make things easier around the house. I'm extending the disinfecting around the house, and all of us will be soaking in some warm detox baths this evening. The kids are like me when I'm sick. When they sweat, they stink. Hopefully, this will allow their bodies to recover and relax better.
Just when I thought we might have escaped the sick, alas we battle it head on. Oh, and only a week before E was scheduled for get her flu shot.
